H βρετανική indie rock σκηνή ζει, και ένας από τους βασικούς λόγους είναι και αυτοί οι Λονδρέζοι. Όχι δηλαδή πως όλα τους τα κομμάτια είναι αυστηρά "βρετανικά", αλλά οι εναλλαγές μεταξύ των γρήγορων κιθαριστικών tracks και των απαλών, μελωδικών τους τραγουδιών στα όρια της μπαλάντας δημιουργούν ένα γοητευτικό μουσικό σύνολο, πολλά συναισθηματικά ανεβοκατεβάσματα και ένα από τα καλύτερα ντεμπούτα φέτος. Καλές και οι φετινές δουλειές των Those Darlins και Vivian Girls, αλλά αυτές εδώ μένουν αξεπέραστες. Ειδικά το φετινό τους άλμπουμ έδειξε ξεκάθαρα την εξέλιξη του ήχου τους, και κάθε φορά που ανατρέχω σε προηγούμενες δουλειές τους αυτό δεν μένει απαρατήρητο. Οι garage κιθάρες έγιναν ένα κλικ πιο γλυκές, πιο μαλακές, και άφησαν χώρο στην μελωδία. Tα 2λεπτα μουσικά σφηνάκια υποχώρησαν, και όμορφα, "εμπλουτισμένα" κομμάτια, στα όρια του power pop και rock, έσκασαν μύτη και δεν έφυγαν ποτέ ξανά. (+)

Είναι ο ένας από τους δύο δίσκους που έδωσαν ένα ξεχωριστό, όμορφο μουσικό στίγμα κατά τη διάρκεια των καλοκαιρινών μου μηνών. Για μένα το φετινό άλμπουμ, αντίστοιχο με το περσινό "Crazy for You" από τους Best Coast, που επηρέασε θετικά την ψυχολογία μου και με κάνει και τώρα που το ακούω και γράφω αυτές τις γραμμές να χαμογελώ... Πανέμορφη, ηλιόλουστη, διασκεδαστική, αφελής αλλά και προσεγμένη pop. (+)

Στην φασαρία και τον "εφηβικό" αυθορμητισμό προστέθηκαν η γοητευτική μελωδία και η ωριμότητα. Η παραγωγή προσεγμένη, τα κομμάτια ολοκληρωμένα και οι ίδιοι μπορούν πλέον να περηφανεύονται ότι έκαναν ένα βήμα παραπάνω στην νεαρή δισκογραφική τους ηλικία. (+)

Oι Δανοί έβαλαν τα μαύρα και εγώ τους απολαμβάνω. Αράγε να έχουν καταλάβει ότι η 180μοιρών στροφή που έκαναν στο μουσικό τους ύφος τους ταιριάζει γάντι? Η ατμόσφαιρα που μέσα σε μόλις 35 λεπτά καταφέρνουν να στήσουν είναι σαγηνευτική,  θεοσκότεινη αλλά συνάμα ρομαντική. (+)

To πιο "βρετανικό" άλμπουμ της χρονιάς, από το καλύτερο βρετανικό συγκρότημα στα indie rock κατατόπια της γενιάς του. Αυτή τη φορά πέρα από τα ηλεκτρονικά-πιασιάρικα-ρυθμικά-κιθαριστικά μοτίβα που τους χαρακτηρίζουν όλα αυτά τα χρόνια, ανακαλύπτουν και την μελωδική τους πλευρά. Το αποτέλεσμα είναι πως ο τέταρτός τους δίσκος να είναι ίσως ο πιο ολοκληρωμένος τους, και αυτοί να έχουν αποδείξει πως συνεχίζουν να κρατάνε ψηλά τον πήχη στα βρετανικά μουσικά δρώμενα και όχι μόνο.

Kρυστάλλινη pop made in France. Με έντονη αύρα από τα νοσταλγικά 80s, με τα synths να δουλεύουν στο φουλ, με την φρεσκάδα της σύγχρονης dance pop και τους ακροατές του δίσκου να μην σταματάνε να χορεύουν, είτε φορώντας παπούτσια, είτε όχι. (+)

Aνατριχιαστικό, υποβλητικό και ζοφερό. Αν ένα τέτοιο άλμπουμ καταφέρνει το τέρμα οξύμωρο να γίνει κολλητικό για μένα στους καλοκαιρινούς μήνες, αυτό κάτι σημαίνει για την αξία του, συναισθηματικής και καλλιτεχνικής φύσεως, και σίγουρα ανήκει και εδώ. (+)
